Voice Over audition preparation…

I have to self-record an audition for a commercial voice-over. Trying to cut down on some of the ambient room noise–radiator hiss, computer hum, etc. “Sciencing the shit out of it,” as Matt Damon says in The Martian. The Yeti microphone just barely fits in the foam-lined box, so I think I may have to get a bigger box and some egg crate foam to isolate the mic. May have to get a blanket or mover’s pad to put over the computer, the main culprit with it’s many fans. I see now why the computer is outside the recording booth in studio setups.
Also, self-recording a voice over is tough if you haven’t gotten over hating the sound of your own voice. It will get you there, though.
Live and learn. And wish me luck.
